Passing of a Great Friend - Richard Perry

Nordby Wine Caves is saddened at the loss of a great friend. Our relationship with Richard began many years ago, but really in earnest as we began to plan and design the underground winery for the Porter Family Vineyards. Richard's enthusiasm and practical experience with winemaking was invaluable during the design, layout and finally construction of the project. Richard provided me with guidance and support throughout the project. Throughout the work, rain, shine, good or bad, Richard was supportive and always offered subtle pressure. With a wink and that warm Perry smile he would ask, "You're going to be finished so we can harvest here right?".

I never saw Richard and Sheila more elated than the days when their grapes were sorted and de-stemmed at the Porter Family Vineyard Winery for the first time.

We will miss Richard greatly and personally I am a better person because of knowing him.
